Hiram High School Reviews

I am a student athleate at hiram high school. This school is fun at TIMES.. But when it comes to freedom and learning its in much need of help. Teachers ability needs to be checked, and how they teach the class. They do not adapt to the student learning styles. They are persistant at teaching a certain way and never improvising to give the students a chance to catch up. Also the school disapline system is awful. They are so worried about tardys, cell phones, and ipods. They completly are oblivious to the fact that drugs and people steal in the locker rooms. And they get away with it. I had money stolen from me and they found the student. But i never was reimburst for what i lost. That was my lunch money. I really think the principal is so fixed on disapline with ignorant stuff.

i have been going through some rough times lately and the counseling and attendence staff have been like family. they have been helpful with my daughters when it comes to my daughter in regards to her school work and homelife i just want to thank them all i couldnt have my daughter in a better school and as for learning my daughter does get and excellent educatin there, at times it is difficult but she does get help from the teachers and she gets along well with the teachers im happy to know that my daughter is in a school that cares about there students.

my child is new to this area and school she is geting excellent education here the only problem is the way the staff allows the students to behave the times i have been to pick up my child early i see children running around on cell phones talking in vulgar language hanging around and leaving school at all times of day i dont know if they have perimission or not but its seems like ten in the morning a car load of students should be in class...for the most part the teachers do seem to be there for the students, my daughter gets along very well with her teachers and learns very well from them ...the office staff has alot to learn about manners especially the front office.

Hiram high is a wonderful school. My child is making amazing grades. Not to mention the wonderful sports program.

Hiram high school is all about the sports. Overall the school is decent and i disagree with it being ugly. I am somewhat satisfyed with this school but wish it could base its priorites on education rather than sports.

High-school is a place for learning, experience, and maturing. Hiram High School is anything but that. From the awkward teacher to student environment. To the sheer ugliness of the school. It's really intolerable. The teachers are not there for the kids and they are not there for the students to have higher-learning. They're there for themselves, money (as odd as it sounds). It's my belief that one should have dedication and passion in one's job. These teachers clearly don't display this. Priorities contribute to a healthy functioning school. It's clear Hiram High has none.

My child is really unhappy at this school. it is highly unorganized and the teachers really do not seem to care. my child has tried to go to tutoring and then the teachers sit there and let the students just help each other. At the orientation i could not find one teacher or even the pricipal i asked who could even tell me what time the first bell rang.no one knew. i ask for teachers to call me and get no response whatsoever. teacher absenteeism is rampant. i feel my child is not getting a good education here.

I graduated from hiram high school last year, and I now attend Kennesaw state university. Throughout high school I was comfortable at hiram. The teachers were nice and the curriculum was efficient. Although, now that I have the opportunity to look back, I was in no way prepared to go to college. Eventhough I was in all AP and Honors classes I was never required to study, therefore I had trouble in the beginning of college.

Personally I think Hiram is the bestplace to go for high school. there JROTC is spectacular in all there doings and congrats at nationals the past year keep up the good work overall I think that SGM. Holman should never retire. The chorus at Hiram is terrific especially the mixed adv. chorus congrats on a perfect score at the festival Ms.Gillis u rock.2006. the level of parents involvement is great in the extracurricular side but not so much in the education portion. If we did not have parent involvement in jrotc or in chorus it would fall apart. I would like to thank to individuals that helped out the most.MRS.Dingler(JROTC)and MRS.Lopez(adv.mix chorus).

I am a senior here at Hiram High School. Overall, I would say that Hiram is a great school but like every other it has its ups and downs. There are a lot of great teachers here. This school really needs to try to improve its honors and AP courses. I have been in these kinds of slasses for the last four years and they have improved some but I think that there are some unqualified teachers teaching these classes. This school has an amazing marching band under the direction of a great director. Hiram has some areas that need a lot of improvement but overall it has been a great school for the last four years. *A HHS Senior*

I do think hiram has good and willing teachers. But lack of resources, like classroom texts (rather than books that can be brought home and studied from) really infringe on the learning of good and proper study skills. My students has a's and b's but almost never studies, has very few, if any, notes from class. Hiram is not preparing her for college. She will get there not knowing how to study, unless we pay to send her elsewhere to learn study skills. In my opinion, a mediocre student should not be getting a's and b's with such a lack of effort. Our student is also involved in an extraurricular activity that is disorganized. We never know when she needs to be here or there for practices, etc, until a day or two before. With other children to consider, this makes for many difficult cirumstances for our family.

The academic program is awesome here at Hiram. It has grown my leaps and bounds. I have not talked to one burnt out or angry teacher here. They all want to help, love the kids, and are willing to do what they need to to get the job done. However, a small group of students are extreamly imature for their ages and cause disruptions in the classrooms while most are eager to learn. I believe the immaturity is prolonged by the freshmen academy...they don't have the opportunity to grow up and are treated like middle schoolers. The order of disipline has detention after calling a parent, I believe that needs to be swapped. The parent involvement is an extreamly sad case...and explains the action of the imature students.

I am a student at Hiram High School. I like it there. The teachers are willing to help you with whatever you might have a question on. There are many tutoring programs that students are more then welcome to join. Yes, there are a few fights, but they are handled quickly and to the best of their abilities. The dress code is strict but not unreasonable. The extra cirricular activities are good too. The athletes are required to keep their grades up and have good behavior. I enjoy being at Hirma and I do not think that it is an unsafe place to be.

Hiram high is a good school, but like every school, it has it's problems too. Things have improved a great deal since Mr. Turner arrived. The teaching staff has improved from a few years ago, but some teachers still do not have control of their classrooms and do not know how to reach all students and effectively teach their subjects. One of the major problems is the amount of students attending the school considering the current size of the school. Even though the freshmen academy has been added, it is still extremely crowded. Adding more trailers isn't going to solve this problem. I think that instead of spending money on grass for the front of the school, they should focus on bigger school for the students.

I am a senior @ Hiram and everyone dogs our education but it has improved so much since Mr. Turner has joined us. The band and football get all the money and attention but thats still cool i mean they do get all the fans! But i mean you can only do so much in a year. We have had less fights and trouble and every year it gets better. I love going to Hiram so much more now that i know that the discipline is being taken care of! The parents need to be more involved though. Go hornets.

I think Hiram High School is a great place! The teachers and the principal have been very respectful They have helped me out tremendously this year. I think more parents need to get involved in their children's education and stop blaming the teachers.

Hiram is a mess! The administration is more worried about students wearing hats and having cd players when there is a fight going on down the hall! I mean the discipline is a joke. The teachers do not teach with all learning styles in mind. Most of them do not teach with all learning styles in mind. What about the more independent ones? They just have to try to adapt to other learning styles! I am very unhappy with this school. The band program is great but thats about all! There are too many fights and things being stolen and not enough is being done about it! students are not even able to walk down the halls without being afraid a fight will break out in front of them! School should have a good environment.Teachers spend more time fighting against their students. Most teachers are clueless about everything that happens!

The administrative staff needs to check on the teachers teaching abilitites more than it does. There is to many drugs and stealing going on in the school. It is not controlled as much as it could be. The new principle needs to fully understand all sports not just some. There is way to much overcrowding. The school was better 2 years ago. The new principle has a long way to go. The teachers need to spend more time working for the children and not against them. Set them up for success not failure.

HHS is a great school. There is another post about the overcrowding. In a system that is growing by over 1000 students per year (that is almost 2 elementary school, one middle or 60% of a high school every year), there isn't much that can be done. As long as multi-family dwellings are approved and no restrictions are made on new homes, things can't get better. Funding from the state will never keep up with this kind of growth. In spite of all of that, the new Administration this year is making excellent improvements in how many things are done. I am confident this great school will only get better and better...and when the new school does open, they will experience the same kind of growth and challenges. Much better to have these problems than those of attrition.

There are some wonderful teachers at this school and the band program is awesome. Unfortunately, the school is terribly overcrowded because of the phenomenal growth in the county and there is no serious relief in sight. This school looks like a trailer park. They haven't even broke ground on the new high school that is supposed to provide relief. Graduation this year was horrible!!!! No organization at all. There was not enough parking, cars were backed up everywhere and most of our family had to turn around and leave or else walk 30 or 40 minutes to get to the school. If I hadn't got there an over an hour early I probably wouldn't have got to see my child graduate. It is a shame that the overcrowded conditions make what otherwise could be a great school not so great.
